Facilities Management Overview
World-class excellence in service utilizing all available technology, in support of world-class excellence in education, with special focus on customer service.
Facilities Management is in existence to provide and maintain, in an efficient and cost effective manner, safe, comfortable and attractive facilities and surroundings in which to discover, learn, live, and work. We are committed to the recruitment and retention of superior students, faculty and staff through enhancing the university environment. We strive to improve customer service by fostering a spirit of teamwork, cooperation, and open communications within our own division and with others in the university community.
Facilities management is responsible for the operation and maintenance of approximately 1,079,000 square feet of classroom, laboratory, housing, dining, office, athletic, and other ancillary facilities on approximately 150 acres, with a staff of 100 full time employees. New construction, renovation, and maintenance functions are accomplished with in-house talent including carpentry and cabinetry, painting, locksmith, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, groundskeeping, grounds construction, welding, and custodial trades. Design, energy management, transportation, security, refuse collection, and recycling are in-house services also provided by Facilities Management. We support the educational process by assisting in the design, fabrication, and construction of student and faculty course and research projects.
In keeping with our continued efforts to provide cost savings to the university, our electrical division has obtained certification in Cat-5 data cable installation to assist in expansion of network connectivity campus-wide at significantly lower cost. Additional cost-saving opportunities available through utilization of in-house services are being explored at this time.
